Earth Day was founded by United States Senator Gaylord Nelson on April 22, 1970 to create awareness of the natural earth environment. The first earth day was celebrated in United States on April 22, 1970 organized by Denis Hayes. Earth day now is being conducted in more than 175 countries to focus on the importance of the earth’s natural environment and several issues relating to its protection. In 2009 it is designated April 22 as International “Mother Earth Day”.

Earth’s environment is being damaged by several ways like oil spills, polluting by factory spills, devastating the forests belts, power and nuclear plants, sewage wastes, toxic wastes, several pesticides, loss of wilderness and pollution of the air etc. On the first earth day many scientists and scholars attended and raised their concern on all these facts. They also resolved to make the Earth day as an action oriented plans and provoke policy changes to protect the Earth’s natural environment.

Earth’s atmosphere: Earth is a wonderful planet for existence of human and animal life dominated by the presence of Oxygen and Nitrogen for the living beings to sustain their life. Besides earth has lot of resources of water required for life sustenance which is not available on any other planet in the universe. We have lot of plants, animal life and several other natural resources to enjoy the life on earth. We are our self destroying this earth’s nature by releasing toxic gases, waste materials, deforestation, polluting air, water and land with several types of pollutants. In addition severe deforestation is leading to loss of wild life, soil erosion and reduction of rain precipitation. Population growth is another serious problem for reduction of several natural resources on earth planet. We are responsible for causing this serious damage to the mother earth and ultimately face the consequences for this. We have to realize this and take suitable measures to save the earth’s environment.

It is now our primary duty to protect and save the planet for healthy living by taking suitable measures. Let us all pledge on this “Mother Earth’s Day” to save her without causing damage to the natural environment. Create awareness on this and guide all the people and children to learn how to protect and save the planet.

Tanoura dance is a form of folkloric dance which is very common in Egypt. It’s indeed one of the highlights of Dubai desert safari as well. Tanoura means skirt in English and it is usually performed by Sufi men for the Sufi music, who spin continuously like the dervish dancers in the Levant and Turkey. The Tanoura beat is religious in nature and the performers aim is to reach spiritual inner purity and to enter a trance-like state during the performance, being at one with God. The long swirling colorful skirts that the performers wear make spectacular patterns as they twirl around in circles. Due to the excitement in the crowd, they loudly gasp and hold their breath together saying ‘ooh’ and ‘aah’ when the performers stun them with lights and then fire. That’s when lots of more cameras click. The performers stop spinning at the end of the performance apparently showing no signs of dizziness or discomfort. It’s amazing to watch!

The photographs were captured in the pleasurable overnight camp in the deserts of Dubai.

We have come across many stunt loving personalities who scale high risers and pretty tall structures. While trekking is an adventure for some, it’s hard to believe what Eskil Ronningsbakken after scaling the peaks of mountains. Yes! He goes not alone but with a bicycle and various other props like chair, rope, fake gun, ladder, etc., to unwind by dangerously balancing which people like us wouldn’t dare to dream off.

A glimpse of a few pictures below is sufficient to give you a spine chilling experience. These the photographed while he was on a rampage between two cliffs at 10,000 feet high at Norway. Enjoy!!!

Mother Teresa was the founder of Missionaries of Charity in Kolkota, India in 1950, when she was just 40 years old. From then on it was point of no return for this Noble Lady who went on to become a Noble prize winner for her selfless service to the poor and needy. Her approach and the results were so different that she has become an example for such selfless service compared to anyone in the Globe. She went on to spread the organization to 123 countries with 610 missions, be it a person suffering from HIV/AIDS or tuberculosis, leprosy or for that matter any such disease which keeps a person away from the society is something which Mother Teresa fondly embraced sending a strong message that these are the people needing the utmost attention and care. A darling of many governments she was a special guest of honour to many chiefs of states who never failed to recognize her efforts and support her with right kind of aids to facilitate her march briskly on her crusade. Honored by many countries with many awards, she topped them all with a Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 and India’s highest civilian honour, the Bharat Ratna, in 1980 for her humanitarian work.

God was not kind enough to let her live beyond the age of 87 when she passed away on September 5th, 1997. Today, August 26th, 2010, is her birthday centenary and we wish her soul to rest in peace and salute the others who carry on the left out job with the same commitment and dedication.
