Cervical Cancer Screening Is The Most Important Test for Women

‘Cervical Cancer’ is a malignant disease of the cervix in women aged between 50-55 years. It is the common cause of death in women although it is completely curable if detected early and treated. But the most unfortunate is being that many women fail to take the test regularly and prevent the progression of the disease. The test for this disease is called ‘Pap Smear’ test which is very simple, quick and reliable.

A study has been made to find out the reasons for not taking to this important test by women. The study revealed the following reasons

• Emotional factors like fear or embarrassment.
• Women are too busy to take up to this test.
• More children living in the house hold reducing the attendance to take up the test.

The screening of cervical cancer saves many lives if carried out regularly and if more women take up the test. The researchers suggested the following measures to overcome the difficulties of women.

• Encourage the women to take the test.
• Opening of evening and weekend clinics so that more women attend to the clinics for screening.
