Exercise Improves The Memory

It is a well known fact that exercise improves general health by cutting down the extra fat thereby prevents the risk of cardiovascular diseases and diabetes etc. Yet, in a latest study it is found that it has also got a beneficial action on the brain cells. It helps formation neurogenic cells in the cerebral cortex thereby improving the memory. Perhaps according to the scientists the exercise increases the blood flow to the brain and indirectly helps in stimulating the production of hormones.

The Cambridge University scientists conducted a study on mice and found encouraging results. They have studied on two groups of mice one allowed access of a running wheel and the other group has no access for the running wheel. On both the groups they have tested for their memory. The group which had an access to the running wheel demonstrated excellent memory in picking up the correct square whereas the other group which had no access failed to select the correct square. The test has revealed that exercise improves the memory. The scientists have also studied the brain tissues and found that new brain cells have been formed due to exercise. Earlier studies also revealed that exercise in depression patients helped to improve their symptoms.
