According to an English daily newspaper (the Guardian), Lello is the world’s 3rd most beautiful bookshop. But in my humble opinion, it is the world’s most beautiful bookshop because, opposite to the other two, it was built to be a bookshop. The other two are a church (in the Netherlands) and a theater (in Argentina) which were converted to bookshops. If I go to Oporto, I will certainly visit Lello bookshop, but if I go to the Netherlands or to Buenos Aires, I am sure that I won’t visit these “pseudo” bookshops, because there are certainly most beautiful churches or theaters in these laters.
There is no doubt that Lello is the “most beautiful” church whatever a daily, which is not qualified to take such a decision, says.
