Acer plans to become the first manufacturer to launch a netbook based on Chrome Operating System by the second half of 2010.The netbook’s specifications are not yet known but is said to have flash memory or SSD storage based on ARM or x86 and is normally provided with USB ports for peripherals. Acer recently has launched a dual-boot netbook based on Windows XP and a mobile operating system named Android.
The Google Chrome operating system is based on open source Linux Kernel and is very advantageous as it has the potential to be more secure which also has stable platform that suite the users who work more than browsing and email. The other manufacturers working with Google Chrome OS building notebooks along with Acer are Lenovo, Toshiba, Qualcomm and Hewlett-Packard, but the specifications and details about their launch is not specified.
