According to ‘Experian Hitwise’ stats related to Cyber Monday, ‘Amazon.com’ topped the list this year among all the most visited retail websites on Cyber Monday gaining an increase in visits of 44% when compared to 2008. When compared to the top 500 online retail websites Amazon alone received 15.53% of the visits and is the only site that is been ticking right at the top of the stats table on Cyber Monday since 2006. However, the percentage of U.S online visits, are down 9% when compared to Cyber Monday last year. After Amazon ‘Wal-Mart’ lies second in the stats with 9.54% visits, ‘Target’ was the third with 5.16% of visits then ‘BestBuy’ lies fourth with 3.56% followed by ‘JC Penney’ with 2.58%.

‘Staples’ recorded the largest increase in its visits compared to 2008 with 61% increase, ‘Barnes & Noble’ has 46% increase, ‘Apple’ have increased its visits by 71% on Cyber Monday this year, whereas the online stores that has dropped its traffic in heavy margins from last year is ‘Overstock.com’ by 25% and Home Depot by 29%. According to reports of Coremetrics, retailers saw 13.7% increase in sales when compared to last year, which shows a positive trend in online sales and traffic.
Some of the deals set by some top sites for this Cyber Monday are: Amazon offered 2nd generation iPod touch having a list price of $199.9 to $158. Apple’s 2009 Cyber Monday deals are Vestax Spin DJ at $224.95 but originally $249.95, Cybermonday.com set up some deals which include 8GB iPod touch and Compact Creative Vado HD 4GB Camcorder for $89.00 which is 50% off the normal price and many more deals were set up by different websites for Cyber Monday.
However, Cyber Monday is being evolved into a significant marketing event when compared from the past years since 2005, which thereby is increasing demand for online retailers to which retailers are also showing interest in setting up deals and providing discounts and promotions for this special day.
