GM’s Chevy Volt – 230 MPG Electric Car

General Motors announced the new Chevy Volt electric car which will get 230MPG (Mile Per Gallon), The automakers got this fuel economy number using EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) method. According to US, average cost of electricity is approximately 11 cents per kilowatt-hour behind calculation of GM a Chevy Volt user would pay about $2.75 for electricity to travel 100 miles. They put efforts to make the first American vehicle to achieve triple-digit fuel economy if that figure is confirmed by federal regulators. The new Chevrolet Volts have two modes of operation, Electric and Extended-Range.

Electric mode: In this mode the Volt will not use gasoline during electrical energy when driving.

In this secondary mode of operation, an engine-generator produces electricity to power the vehicle. The energy stored in the battery supplements the engine-generator when additional power is needed during heavy accelerations.
