How Google Street View Works

Google Street View enables users to see certain parts of several big US cities through 360° horizontal and 290° vertical panoramic views from a row of positions along the street and fom a height of about 2.5 metres.

Google Street View images changing its position from one place to another by dragging “pegman” to some position.

Using the keyboard or mouse the horizontal and vertical viewing direction and the zoom level can be selected.

Google Japan has made a short film that shows how Google map’s street view works.
