Indian Rupee Official Symbol Announced

As India is one of the world’s emerging strongest economic countries, it is in a need of its own unique monetary symbol like the other unique currency symbols of the world. Some of the unique symbols for some countries currencies include US dollar ($) and on some keyboards British pound (£), Euro (€), may be Japanese yen or Chinese yuan (¥).

In this contest Dharmalingam Udaya Kumar’s design of rupee among 3,000 designs was selected by the Indian Government to represent the country’s currency and growing economy. D Udaya Kumar pursued his masters in architecture from IIT Mumbai designed the symbol including elements of Roman and Devanagari scripts. He was rewarded Rs 2.5 lakh for his creation. The symbol will have a dedicated key on all computer keyboards with which it will be seen and gets recognized all over the world. It is now anxious among all the people to see that which key on the keyboard would bear the rupee symbol.

Great to have a currency symbol for Indian rupee and all the Indians should be proud about it and D.Udaya Kumar to be an Indian.
