Intel and Nokia combine to Introduce MeeGo Linux-based OS

Nokia and Intel are combining their Linux-based mobile handset OS namely Maemo and Moblin to create a combined Linux-based OS called ‘MeeGo’.

MeeGo is an OS that offers support for a wide range of devices like netbooks, mobile computers, tablets and ‘in-vehicle infotainment systems’. The companies are excepting the software to be widely adopted by network operators, software vendors and developers, global device manufacturers and semiconductor companies.

MeeGo operating system is expected to be released in the second quarter of this year.
