Intel To Launch 600GB 25nm Solid State Drive

In the recent times we have been seeing the increasing demand for Solid State Drives (SSDs) which have higher read/write speeds, consume less power and indeed smaller in size than the standard Hard Disk drives available. The prices of the SSDs also are getting reduced these days as they are made available at $100 and may even be reduced to a price where common people can afford to get it. But hard disk overcomes the SSDs in their longevity as hey have longer life spans compared to SSDs. Catching this, Intel is set to launch a 600GB 25nm SSD by the end of this year which is two times greater in capacity than the SSDs present in the market today.

Intel is on a move to launch new 25nm MLC NAND Flash memory based SSDs in 600GB, 300GB and 160GB capacities. After this the company will put a step forward for the launch of 1.8-inch ultraportable SSDs with capacities of upto 300GB. These SSDs will thereby be used in Blu-Ray players, Camcorders and may even be used as a replacement for hard drives in laptops. Let’s see how successful these SSDs will be over the Hard Disk Drives.
