OCZ Technology Announces Z-Drive R2 PCI – Express SSD

OCZ rolls out a new line of PCI-Express based SSDs (Solid State Drive) named Z-Drive R2. The line of R2 drives come without SATA bottleneck, are directly connected to eight PCI-E lanes supporting eight-way RAIDO configurations. The Z-Drive R2 also has an interesting feature of interchangeable NAND modules enabling customization and providing better life span.

The R2 p84 will run at 850 MB/s read and 800 MB/s write speed (IOPS random 4K read of 29,000 and IOPS random 4K write of 7,500/7,700) with storage capacities of 256GB, 512GB and 1TB. Similarly the R2 p88 runs at 1,400MB/s read and 1,400MB/s write speed (random 4K write of 14,500 IOPS and random 4K read of 29,000 IOPS) with storage capacities ranging from 256GB-2TB. Finally the R2 m84 runs at 800MB/S read and 750MB/s write speed with storage of upto 2TB.
