Samsung announced the development and production of world’s first 8GB OneNAND memory chip for smartphones in order to meet the increasing use of multi-media applications in these phones.
The 8GB OneNANDs incorporates a single-level cell NAND flash memory, buffer memory, uses advanced 30NM class process technology capable of holding data twice the capacity of previous ones, also reads data four times faster than the vanilla NAND at a speed of 70Mbps and requires very less power i.e., only 1.8V. Along with this 8GB OneNAND Flash chips Samsung is also going to launch them in small capacities of 2GB and 4GB. Samsung is going to raise its productivity by forty percent with this 30Nm chips over 40NM chips.
The availability and the price details of these chips are yet to be unwrapped.
