Samsung Electronics introduces two new high storage memory card options for mobiles and other devices. The high density storage options are a 64GB moviNAND embedded memory device and a 32GB microSD memory card.
Getting into more details, the 64GB moviNAND flash device is 1.4mm thick containing six 30nm-class 32Gb MLC NAND chips and a controller and the other storage sizes for this card include 32GB, 16GB, 8GB, 4GB.
Coming to the 32GB microSD card is 1mm thick with eight 32Gb NAND components and a card controller contained in it. These 32GB memory cards doubles the capacity of the previous highest storage capacity of memory cards i.e., 16 GB which used 40-nm 16Gb NAND chips. These microSD cards are generally used for mobile phones, cameras etc.
Samsung is in a plan of selling 520 million 32GB and higher capacity memory cards this year with increasing sales upto 9.5 million cards in 2013. The availability and price details of the memory cards are yet not known.
