‘Uninor’, launched global GSM mobile services in India on Thursday. Uninor, a joint venture telecom company between Unitech and the Telenor Group of Norway. Telenor< Group is among the largest mobileservice provider in the world and ‘Unitech Limited’ is a India’s second largest real estates.
The Uninor service has been launched into heavy competitive in Indian mobile service market. It had introduced its services in seven major circles in India which include Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Bihar (including Jharkand), UP East and UP West. The Telenor group has invested an amount of Rs. 2,620 crore in order to make its build up its position and grow stronger in the huge competitive Indian mobile market and is aiming to get 8% percent of market share in the coming five years.
The launch of Uninor also sets up the largest ever distribution achieved by any GSM operator in India, as it will be retailed at over 20,000 points of sale through almost 1,000 exclusive distributors in these circles in which it has been launched. The company also is soon going out to spread its services in ach of India’s 22cicles as it holds a pan-India license to offer mobile telephony services.
Uninor is providing two price plans on its launch, in which one is a base plan called ‘Talkmore at 29 paise’ and the other is a subscription plan called ‘Callmore at 29 paise’. Talkmore at 29 paise’ designed specially for customers who talk for longtime. Callmore at 29 paise is designed for customers who call more often by offering the lowest per minute local call rates in the market.The plan offers customers local calls at 29 paise per minute and STD calls at 49 paise per minute, with a call set up fee of 39 paise and a daily rental of Rs 2.
