People of the North Pole, might be waiting for the beginning of spring season to come after experiencing some long cold winter months with snow falls. The equinox happens two times every year as an indicator of seasonal change and is called vernal equinox for Northern Hemisphere occurring on 20th or 21st of March and autumnal equinox for Southern hemisphere on 22nd or 23rd of September.
Vernal Equinox is a natural phenomenon where the Sun crosses over the Earth’s Equator directly resulting in equal day and night (daylight of 12 hours and night of 12 hours). This year the Vernal equinox is said to occur today i.e., on March 20th, 2010. Vernal equinox has a vast significance from the olden days as people used to observe this phenomenon of equal day and night which served them as an indication for seasonal change and some religions also observe as they have different rituals related to them. On the first Sunday after the full moon after the Vernal Equinox had occurred, Easter falls so the date does play an important role in Christianity.
So, observe this natural phenomenon where it happens only once a year for people of North Pole and experience the sense of warmth of the spring. However, people of the South Pole have to wait until September for observing autumnal equinox.
