A study conducted by The Heart Institute at Intermountain Medical Center in Salt Lake City on 15000 black Americans revealed that Vitamin ‘D’ deficiency results in increased risk for cardiovascular diseases. This is mainly due to that the pigment melanin preventing to produce Vitamin ‘D’ an essential Vitamin for the body.
The researchers collected the data from the black Americans on the blood levels of Vitamin ‘D’ and compared the death rates by cardiovascular diseases and analysed. From the analysed data they found that Vitamin ‘D’ deficiency is associated with increased death rates by 40% by cardiovascular problems. They concluded that Vitamin ‘D’ deficiency among black Americans increases the risk of deaths by cardiovascular diseases.
