Giminy you people believe anything. First it is on Rangon Island in Maldive at the Hilton- not Atlantis.

Secondly, Forbes Island is an underwater restaurant that has been around forever…but bot even they claim to be the first. However. at Forbes Island, the view is limited to portholes…not entirely cased in glass.

Don’t talk like you know shit if you don’t know shit.

certainly not photoshopped, and I find it interesting how people are so quick to declare something as unauthentic just because it’s different and interesting. People should verify what they say before making it public. This is the major thing that really bothers me about the internet: it gives idiots the freedom to say whatever pops into their heads, and many people will believe them. For shame.

absolutely not photoshopped whatsoever…i happen to have a family member who visited this exact restaurant, and i have family pictures that can do more than prove it. and as far as the person who commented up there about how it cant be possible that the glass couldnt hold up to the depths that sting rays live in…you obviously have no idea whatsoever about sting rays at all. i live on the southwest coast of florida, and sting rays are more commonly found in shallow, tropical waters, frequenting more the 2-4 depths the waves break at more the the deeper depths the sand bars break off at. you make no sense at all, you damned retard.

Awesome. said,

——————————————————–

yea… cause if u look closely at the pics the water is all of what… 20 foot… and a guy is STANDING on it… but you can see the surface so it can’t be “at a depth” that would break it… they make subs that go deep enough with glass fronts for deep sea dives with lights because you can’t see even in the day with the sun being diffused… a lil glass dome for a restaurant is absolutely easy…

as for sting rays… go here….

http://staff.harrisonburg.k12.va.us/~aberry/Student%20Websites/Sting%20Rays-%20Ben/Where%20Stingrays%20Live.html

quoting from the page… i’m sure you can find others out there about the “depth” they live at… “If you happen to see a sting ray when you’re” STOPPING QUOTE FOR A MOMENT TO POINT OUT THE NEXT WORD… “wading,” because i **WADE** at depths deep enough to break glass “and it’s alert but lying in the sand, there’s one way to avoid getting hurt. It’s called the Stingray Shuffle. What you do when you see a stingray is to shuffle to the side. It’s almost like a slow sideways gallop. Also, be careful not to hurt them. They are a threatened species.”…. so hopefully i wouldn’t ever see anything of the like again from someone like george but i know… being on the internet…. i will….

2 weeks in photoshop (the program) you might get a result looking like the photos above, but good luck in trying that. These photos are real and most likely have been retouched to look there best. Many different sting rays are out there all living at different depths in the seas. Also in regards to the glass breaking- structural engineering.

And I think this is actually computer simulated video/an architecture program, Maya maybe.
If you look there’s a video at this website (http://sea-quest.blogspot.com/) and also some other underwater architecture ideas. HOWEVER, IF YOU DON’T WANT TO SEE SOMETHING COMPUTER SIMULATED DON’T GO!!!!!! It fucking sucks to read a whole conversation about if the pictures real or fake, talk about the IDEA not the reality.
So, in what would have been my one sentence comment about the pictures: I think it would be possible and my guess would they use thick plastic not glass to make it.

It is the whole point to their existence on the internet. Ignore them on anything you do because they will always be around and always say stupid and random things to get other people pissed off.

P.S. I still don’t understand how people don’t know this by now while going through picture/video blogs all over the internet.

This is shopped. It is impossible for people to be underwater in glass. Glass can’t hold water. Also the existence of sharks in the water? Come on. Everyone knows that sharks don’t go near people. It is obviously a restaurant with cool wallpaper. The shopping was changing the picture in each frame. To make it appear underwater. How do I know this? I am a photoshop major at Slippery Rock University.

Mike said,

March 30, 2009 @ 12:24 am

This place is similar to places like Kelly Tarlton’s in Auckland, where you can view fish, sharks, eels and stingrays from a 110 metre travelator enclosed in a transparent tube. This is built in a former sewer tank (very big). The ‘glass’ people refer to is acrylic. At Kelly Tarlton’s it is 7 centimetres thick (about 3 inches). The photos show the sea surface to be just above the top of the dome. To keep the fish around the restaurant they may have automatic feeding to keep them there. Or perhaps the light underwater attracts them. http://www.kellytarltons.co.nz/aquarium-attraction-sharks-penguins/45/Underwater+World.aspx

Joe said,

April 1, 2009 @ 7:07 pm

54min too early, AmerginCC. But the pic is definitely photoshopped: the pixelation around the fish and stingray is evident at a high degree of magnification is evident even to beginners. But I am an expert on photoshopping and I have seen a whole lot of photoshopped pics before. This is obviously photoshopped and anyone who says that it is not photoshopped or that they have “visited this place before” is lying through their teeth- they know that it was poorly photoshopped but are too annoying to admit it.

dee said,

April 8, 2009 @ 11:33 pm

The moron above me is too annoying to admit that he’s wrong. That’s not shopped… Pay attention to the reflections. and People, the glass is BARELY underwater, and yes, thick glass can hold up to that minuscule pressure. It’s a real restaurant, geez. Expert at photoshopping my ass… I can tell a shopped pic when i see one, no matter how good it is, because if you’re not ignorant enough, you can tell “something” isn’t right with the picture. Anyone knows a shopped photo when they see one. This aint.

kenoko said,

April 10, 2009 @ 4:03 pm

if all of you notice, a camera took these pics, so of course, it will be pixilated AND its not photoshoped, it is the first underwater restraunt because this one actually goes under water, not just some stupid fish tanks inside the place, and stingrays do come up that high and the glass can not break because it was made for certain pressures, at least I’M smart enough to REALIZE that.and the fith picture shows the waitress looking at the fish with the people and at the far right theres a woman with a camera taking a picture

fok used said,

May 5, 2009 @ 5:56 am

Yes, this *REALLY IS* photoshopped. The restaurant is actually on a sandy beach and the view is projected on the walls. But since you can not photogpraph pixels projected digitally, they photoshopped the images to be used in the ads. That is why some people think this is real, when you can *clearly* see that is a ‘shop by looking at the pixels.

Barney Katz said,

May 7, 2009 @ 3:44 am

All of this reminds me of a radio personality, whose name escapes me at the moment, who used his own voice to impersonate “experts on his show who offered ridiculous and shocking opinions like “All people of color should be sent back to Africa”, hoping that listeners who weren’t in on the joke would call in to express their outrage on the air while the rest of the audience who were in on joke laughed at the absolute stupidity of the enraged callers who actually believed that the “expert” with the funny voice was real.

All the people here claiming the photos are photoshopped fakes know that’s not true because a long time ago they clicked the links provided and discovered the restaurant is real. When claiming the photos are shopped, they’re just pulling the chain of unsuspecting visitors who think the comments are misguided but sincere, much like the radio personality who tricked the callers. In spite of all the attempts here to point this out, amazingly there are still people out there who get worked up every time they see “photoshopped”, calling the posters morons and idiots without suspecting at any point that the joke is on them and I suppose this prank will continue forever, here and elsewhere, until the day arrives when everybody recognizes what’s actually happening. Judging from the unending number of callers who fell for the “expert” prank, that day will probably never come.

The irony here is, as several commentators have already pointed out, if the photos were taken by a professional photographer, Photoshop or other software was probably used to clean up and enhance the photos before publication so technically it would be somewhat accurate to state they’ve been photoshopped.

Barney Katz said,

May 8, 2009 @ 4:42 pm

Hello, Ally. This is Barney Katz responding to your message

How dare you call video gamers like me dumb asses when you can’t spell or use proper punctuation even though a spell checker is right in front of you? Do you think the red squiggly line that appears when a word is misspelled is there to highlight the word to make it stand out more clearly or haven’t you learned yet how to use the right-click button? Also, how can you eat seafood at that restaurant when you don’t even know the location of the Maldives, let alone how to get there?

It DOES matter that those photos are photoshopped because I know well the photographer who altered those photos. That man earns his living using that excellent American product. Don’t you know that man altered the images to trick dumb asses like you into thinking they’re cool when in fact the photos were taken at Sea World in San Diego to imitate the restaurant in the Maldives because it costs too much to fly there? That photographer paid $400 for Photoshop which is very important for our economy. Do you realize how many American jobs would be lost if people stopped buying Photoshop and the video games you poke fun at? Instead of flying to a foreign country to eat seafood at that restaurant, you should stay here in America and spend your money on American products like Photoshop! Haven’t you ever heard the advice, “Buy American”? After paying for your airfare and hotel room, you’d be spending almost $2,000 for that seafood dinner in the Maldives that you crave so much. What a waste of money! What does it tell us about your values when you want to spend all that money overseas just to fill your belly? I suspect you’ve spent more time under water than that restaurant.

OK, so I do live with my mother even though I’m 54 years old but see needs me, God Damn it! You probably stuck your mother and father into the cheapest nursing home you could find. How dare you do that when they brought you into this world, raised you and sent you to the best schools like Harvard, Yale or Slippery Rock?

I hope you do respond to my message, assuming of course you can find your way back to this website. OK, I admit to being arrogant but at least I can find The Maldives on a map! I’m willing to wager you don’t even know what section of the Caribbean the Maldives are in.

Although technically, as you should know, StumbleUpon ought to be called StumbleuShopped, because the majority of the sites it leads stumblers to aren’t even real blogs. They’re just the stumble homepage that’s been ‘shopped to look like a blog. As for these photos, well don’t even get me started.I know the chick that shopped these and she was HIGH. I mean she was so blazed she didn’t know what the hell she was doing, which explains the serious misalignment of those troublesome pixels.
